Eligibility & Requirements

  • 10+2 with Science stream (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) or Home Science is generally preferred.
  • A Bachelor's degree (B.Sc.) in Nutrition & Dietetics, Food Science & Technology, Clinical Nutrition, or Home Science (with Nutrition as a specialization).
  • A Master's degree (M.Sc.) in Clinical Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Science & Nutrition, or Public Health Nutrition is often required for advanced roles and registration as a Registered Dietitian (RD) in India.
  • Completion of a mandatory internship (typically 6-12 months) under a registered dietitian, often part of the M.Sc. curriculum or required for IDA registration.
  • Registration with the Indian Dietetic Association (IDA) is highly recommended and often a prerequisite for many professional roles.
