CAREER BLUEPRINT

Dentistry

Dentistry is the branch of medicine dedicated to the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders, and conditions of the oral cavity, maxillofacial area, and adjacent structures. It encompasses a wide range of practices, from routine check-ups to complex surgeries, all aimed at ensuring patients maintain optimal oral health and well-being. For instance, a dentist might perform a root canal to save a severely decayed tooth, alleviating a patient's pain and restoring their chewing function. Another example involves an orthodontist correcting a child's misaligned teeth with braces, not only improving their smile but also preventing future bite problems and improving speech.
