CAREER BLUEPRINT

Civil Engineering

Civil Engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction, and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including public works such as roads, bridges, canals, dams, airports, sewerage systems, pipelines, structural components of buildings, and railways. It is one of the oldest engineering disciplines, dating back to when people first started living in permanent settlements and building shelters. For example, civil engineers are behind iconic structures like the Bandra-Worli Sea Link in Mumbai, ensuring its structural integrity and traffic flow. They also play a crucial role in planning and executing urban development projects, such as the Delhi Metro, which involved complex underground tunneling and structural design to support a rapidly expanding city's transportation needs.
